We made our way into town to check out El Charro Cafe and it was pretty good. After that, we decided to walk around town a bit and check things out. That was really the only disappointment. There was a small arts & craft area nearby but not much else. We were told by a local taxi driver that there really wasn't much of a downtown in Tucson for browsing around, shopping, etc.
When we asked where the best place to pass some time in downtown Tucson, he said "...the resort you're staying at is the nicest place around. Everything else is spread out here and there so if you want to rleax and have fun the JW is probably the best place to be." And with those words of wisdom, he returned us to the resort where we spent most of the time relaxing, catching up on some work and enjoying the surroundings.
